California the Beatutiful (1911)
In 1911, Paul Elder and Co. compiled and published California the Beautiful, a collection of photographs of scenes in California, taken by California photographers, with selections in prose and poetry by California writers about the state. Here are 23 of the 37 plates, scanned in by and for sale from Period Paper. You can sometimes find copies of the book itself for sale , but they are expensive.
